Now that my life has have calmed down (a bit) since my daughter's chronic health issues, and with the nasty Nebraska winter behind us, I'm picking up my camera again and setting some new goals for this year. One of those goals was to jump back into the Project 365 challenge, however, when I started looking through the challenges, I found a new one that started not long ago called the 52 Week Challenge. I decided to join this challenge instead of starting back up with the 365 Project thinking that this challenge will be a little less demanding on my time.
The 52 Week Challenge is essentially the same as Project 365, except instead of taking a picture every day on a weekly theme, the challenge is to get at least one shot a week, and the themes run for two weeks. I hope this decrease in time commitment will allow me to be more successful at this challenge.

Project 365: Fall
Another theme I'm playing catch-up on is Fall. Fortunately, I took some fall shots before the winter hit.
Project 365: Trees
Because of my daughter's health issues, I've had to temporarily set aside the Project 365 challenge. But now I am finally back--not fully in the swing of things yet, but trying to get there. When my daughter was first hospitalized in mid-October, I was in the process of working on the current theme for that week, which was Trees. I had all the shots on my camera, but hadn't yet gotten to the processing until just now. So, better late than never, here are my shots from that week. I intend to gradually catch-up on all the themes I missed the last several weeks, but I'm not sure if I'll make it or not! But it feels great to ditch my point-and-shoot that I was using in the hospital, pull out my SLR again and flip it to full manual mode!

Project 365: Curly Things
You would think that with a house full of curly-haired girls, this would be an easy week for me. However, none of the curly-haired girls would cooperate to have me capture their curls. So, here are some other curly things I found.

Project 365: Backlighting
I was excited to work more on backlighting techniques this past week, but it proved to be more challenging than expected since the weather was so overcast and rainy several days. So I didn't necessarily get one picture each day, but when she sun did come out, I ran into the empty lot next door and started taking pictures of the weeds and sunflowers growing there. It's amazing what beautiful things you can find if you take the time to get close and really look. I love shooting at this "golden hour" just before sunset!
